User benefits
Mechanical
- Reduced maintenance costs:
- Electronic brakes require no maintenance (no braking linings etc.)
- Fast stopping of damaged equipment e.g. with imbalance
- Undesirable resonances can be prevented
- Motor vibrators can be stopped quickl
Safety
- Fast electronic braking increases safety:
- Machines can be stopped within 10 s
- Machines with very high inertia should not be left unattended while they are running down
Productivity
- Reduced waiting time to change or service tools eliminated or for reversing:
- Especially useful with high inertia equipment
Features
- Braking torque and braking time-out are separately adjustable
- Easily retrofitted
- Fast start of braking operation (e.g. approx.0.3s with LEKTROMIK B1)
- Simple connection with standard contactors
- Can be used without braking contactors
- Can be used as a combined soft-start and injection brake:
- LEKTROMIK B1: with soft start module KIMODUL DMA
- LEKTROMIK B4: with soft start LEKTROMIK S2
- LEKTROMIK E42: (integrated soft start and injection brake controller)
Principle of operation
LEKTROMIK B1 and B4 use the principle of d.c. injection in the stator winding. The resulting stationary magnetic field retards the rotor. The braking torque depends on the magnitude of the current which can be varied by phase-controlled thyristors. This allows the decelleration to be varied over a wide range.
With LEKTROMIK B1 two thyristors are connected as a single-phase controlled rectifier. The firing circuit generates the required trigger pulses. The trigger pulses are synchronised with applied line-to-line voltage. A neutral connection is not required.
LEKTROMIK B4 use full-wave control of 4 thyristors. The resulting braking current is almost pure d.c. This results in a high braking torque with little vibration.
